Lithops are succulent plant native to southern Africa. Often refered to as ‘Living stones’ they blend in with rocks and pebbles of their native habitats. Interestingly the new fleshy leaves get their water and nutrients from the older leaves which then shrivel and die.
They need bright light and it is essential not to overwater them as they can suffer from root rot. Mature plants will sometimes flower.
