Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Bluegold’ is a compact, high-yielding, mid-to-late season deciduous blueberry shrub. It produces high yields of sweet, firm, light blue, medium-sized berries in July and August. It is self-fertile but benefits from other varieties for better yield. Known for its ornamental value with pink-tinged white spring flowers, golden autumn foliage, and yellow winter stems.
Soil PH: Must be grown in acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. If your garden soil is alkaline, it is highly recommended to grow it in containers using ericaceous compost.
Sunlight: Prefers full sun for the best fruit production and flavour concentration, though it can tolerate partial shade.
Watering: Blueberries should ideally be watered with rainwater, as the lime in tap water can gradually reduce soil acidity.
Pollination: While some varieties are often listed as self-fertile (like Bluegold), we suggest planting at least two different cultivars together to significantly improve crop yield and berry size.
Grows to approx 1.5-2m tall.
