Native to coastal Australia/Tasmania. Its thick mass of roots eventually form a trunk, with large, long fronds growing from the crown. Grow in shade in moist soil. WATERING: Water the trunk first and then water the crown. Feed regularly through the crown. They can attain a height of 4m but are very slow growing. Although one of the hardier tree ferns, (down to -5), they may benefit from the crown being protected in winter with fleece, straw or even old fronds.
