Cleistocactus winteri colademononis

Monkey tail cactus.
Native to Bolivia, this species is used to cool, dry mountain air, making it surprisingly well-suited to indoor life in the UK. Give plenty of bright, indirect light and good drainage. When mature, large, vivid red blooms that emerge along its stems.

Cleistocactus colademononis prefers to dry out completely between waterings and benefits from a gritty, free-draining compost. During winter, it should be kept on the dry side and protected from frost, making it an ideal houseplant or greenhouse feature in the UK climate.
